Du Cercueil
rémy huberdeau
Duration: 5:18
Du cerceuil is based on a dream involving Louis Riel, his coffin (located at the St-Boniface museum in Winnipeg), a transsexual body and a minefield of race, body and community politics. This footage was reprocessed first through filmed projection, then through a 1970s era video mixer. Du cerceuil is an excerpt from a 3-channel installation that will hopefully be up in the fall of 2007.rémy huberdeau is sometimes a video artist who works with documentary, animation and experimental forms, whenever the timing is right.

Papierschnitt
Julien Ceccaldi
Duration: 1:46

Julien Ceccaldi is a Montreal-based animator creatively dedicated to the absorption and recomposition of popular culture in unusual and unique ways. He is currently completing his second year as a film animation student at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema.Papierschnitt is an ironic, ambiguous, wacky and colourful interpretation of what it is like to be in a cult. The film provides the audience with delightful, appealing visuals accompanied by an irresistibly catchysoundtrack by Montreal-based artist Nicolas Chausseau. The film experience might not be so pleasant for the followers of this merry cult, as they will learn at their own expense that even fun may come with a price.

DARKSUNOMG
Patrick Dyer
Duration: 9:47

I wanted to find an point where teen angst intersects with the sublime. I could not accept the responsibility of creating vision so I have inserted myself into a fabric woven together from the 'vision' of others. My character finds himself arguing through pop lyrics with a masked mirror image over webcam; emotionally stricken he succumbs to the overwhelm of his subconcious which manifests as a strange world that pulses to electronic rhythms and melodies.

here's some news

mix and mash creative commons uk

Mix&Mash Finalist- Kim Keilhofner
Kim Keilhofner is one of the three finalists of the Creative Commons UK film Remix Competition, Mix&Mash, with her entry:
'Hail the Faliure of Urban Planning'
- The three finalists receive a Avid Liquid Software Pack worth £309. - A screening of the films will be organised in the near future.- They will also be featured on Creative Commons UK.
To have a look at all the entries go to www.mixandmash.cc
We interviewed Kim to learn about his veiws on remixing and her inspiration for the film:
CCuk: When did you first become interested in Remixing?
Kim: I became interested in remixing in my video practice because I wanted to create a visual style that complemented my interest in literary and artistic traditions of pastiche. I am interested in how identities interact with culture, and remixing is a technique that addresses this question quite well.
CCuk: How did you pick the particular interpretation of your film?
Kim: I wanted to create a work that was very clearly constructed, I wanted to create a nice movement that built into intensity into a conclusion. I matched the images and soundtrack to do this. I contrasted the smoothness with "the shock of the moment" including sounds that are often harsh and the strong text. My interest in this comes from ideas about representation, what is possible to represent, and what comes of creating a representation of something abstract.
CCuk: Are you, or do you want to be, professionally involved in film making?
Kim: Yes, I do want to be involved professionally. I am most interested in developing my practice in experimental video/film.
